The play I Created Audrey Hepburn was staged by Adelina Gizatullina on the “Studio” stage of the Vakhtangov Theatre.
“The story of the performance grows out of the complex and contradictory relationship between Audrey Hepburn and her mother, Baroness Ella van Heemstra. While the production is based on real events from the life of the great actress, the central figure of the story is not Audrey herself, but the woman who stood behind her becoming. What is true maternal love? Is it support or demand? Acceptance or the desire to reshape another person? I ask these questions not as a researcher, but as a director searching for living truth within human relationships. The world knows Audrey Hepburn as an actress, a style icon, an Academy Award winner. But very few people know what she truly dreamed about. I am certain this story will resonate not only with women. Men, too, will recognize themselves in these characters,” said director Adelina Gizatullina.
